When choosing a Lipstick Color

A lipstick could be glamorous, flirty or subtle. Moreover, it could add a final touch to a day or evening makeup.  Many women are often confused when it comes to choosing a lipstick color. When it comes to choosing one, opt for a color that complements the natural shade of your skin and lips. For a dark skin tone, wines, reds and plums are great. Pink and orange undertones falter a lighter skin tone and olive skin looks great with brownish reds, raisin shades and light browns.

Keep a lipstick color light for daytime use and darker for night. Cream and matte finishes provide a subtler day look while a high-gloss finish provides more glamor for an evening out. When choosing lipsticks, consider experimenting and head to your local department store and test on various shades on your lips.

You can also make your own shade by mixing colors. If the colors you fid do not completely satisfy your taste, make your own color. You can do this by applying each color to the lips using a brush and blend with the brush on your lips. Choose a lip liner that is darker than the color of your lipstick and in the same color family. Make sure that you line your lips after you apply your lipstick and not before. This way, you will not end up with a dark lip liner circle after your lipstick wears off.
